Passengers traveling through London Underground’s network will be tracked through the WiFi beacons on their smartphones, Transport for London said on Monday.

Allegedly, the reason is to understand how commuters move through the network and to send targeted information about avoiding congestion.

As part of any user tracking, the data may also yield commercial benefits for Tfl along with other privacy violating concerning matters.

Chief data officer, said: “Transparency, privacy and ethics need to be at the forefront of data work in society and we recognise the trust that our customers place in us,”.

Its up to residents of London either to trust the Tfl and the Government or fight against it.
